Winter Classics — Dec 5-7
Presented in partnership with St. Lawrence Market
From December 5th - 7th, Toronto Outdoor Picture Show presents its first ever winter outdoor cinema programming, in partnership with St. Lawrence Market. Taking place on Market St. between The Esplanade and Wilton St., just outside of the big white tent, the TOPS screen will light up with holiday classics under starry skies as part of the free Winter Market.
Join us for three evenings of cool weather classics. On Friday, December 5, Nora Ephron’s ‘90s screwball comedy You’ve Got Mail, starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. On Saturday, December 6, enjoy a selection of holiday season short films, including the original animated classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and seasonal stories from the National Film Board collection. And on Sunday, December 7, close the weekend with a nostalgic screening of Tim Burton’s Batman Returns.
Seating is limited. We encourage you to arrive early to visit the outdoor and indoor market, enjoy a warm beverage, and take a seat in time for the 5PM show.
TOPS fans shouldn’t miss their chance to pick out 15th anniversary apparel and posters at our merch table!
You’ve Got Mail
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2025
Directed by Nora Ephron, 1998
Kathleen and Frank - one an independent children’s bookstore owner and the other an executive at a major bookstore chain that’s putting the little guy out of business - have been communicating under pseudonyms for weeks through internet chat. But when the the soon-to-be rivals meet in person, not realizing the connection, an online-offline love-hate flurry of events builds anticipation for the truly earned “happily ever after.”
Programme runtime: 2hr
Content advisory: This film contains mild profanity and sexual innuendo.
Programme runtime: 1hr 55min

BATMAN RETURNS
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2025
Directed by Tim Burton, 1992
Michael Keaton's second outing as the Caped Crusader sees him return to the snow-covered streets (and sewers) of Gotham City, tasked with saving the city during the holiday season from a corrupt businessman who would rather swindle the city of its electricity than spread Christmas cheer. Talk about a humbug! The all-star cast of villains includes Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, Danny Devito as Penguin, and Christopher Walken as corrupt businessman Max Shreck. Batman Returns is a tour de force entry to both the Christmas and superhero movie canon.
Programme runtime: 2hr 6min
Content advisory: This film contains moderate violence, sexually suggestive scenes, alcohol use, and mild profanity. Some scenes may be frightening to some younger viewers.
