OPENING WEEKEND
JUNE 26-28, 2026
This summer, Toronto welcomes visitors travelling from around the world for six international championship soccer matches. To celebrate our “World in a City,” Toronto Outdoor Picture Show’s Opening Weekend (June 26-28, 2026 at Christie Pits Park) will spotlight films from the games’ three host countries set in three iconic cities.
The adventure begins in Toronto with the triumphant time travel tale Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie (Matt Johnson, 2025, Canada), before heading southwest to Los Angeles for Keke Palmer and SZA’s frenetic get-the-bag buddy comedy One of Them Days (Lawrence Lamont, 2025, USA), and finally landing in Mexico City for the Toronto premiere of award-winning, hazy summer coming-of-age road movie Güeros (Alonso Ruizpalacios, 2014, Mexico). Each feature film is accompanied by a curated Canadian short film that expands on TOPS’ 2026 journey-themed programme. The TOPS Opening Weekend programme is a cross-continental cinematic tribute to a world in motion and the cities we love.
The complete summer-long programme of films screening across Toronto will be announced on May 20.
